The Yamekko Future House is built with the facilities of a temporary childcare service and the Yame family support center with the goal of nurturing healthy children.(P28-P29)Settlement x creatorsEveryone has specific reasons when choosing a place to live. “I like to live with the four seasons.” “Simple, rustic Satoyama living suits me.” “I want to raise children in an environment near nature,” and other reasons. The city works to support settlement and establish a policy for ideal living in Yame. The city provides a variety of different programs, including support for house rent for young families, information on abandoned houses, subsidies for renovations, and support for childrearing. Thus, the city aims to maintain a resident-friendly environment where people think, “I want to live in Yame. I am happy living in Yame.” We work to create the foundation for the city with the goal of supporting the comfortable, safe, and secure lives of the residents and improving the functions of the city. To improve people’s lives and economic activities, we are now required to establish a more functional city. So, we promote the planned use of the land and improve the functions of the city. We will also establish a road network using the Yame Interchange and national highway 442, improve public transportation using on-demand transportation, and expand telecommunications service using the multimedia communication network. They enjoy playing soccer on an official soccer field as if they were professional soccer players. The Yame east sports park, Green Field Yame, is on the grounds of Greenpia Yame with beautiful natural grass. The premises also include natural hot springs, leisure facilities, and accommodations. The surrounding area is a designated forest bathing therapy base. Many people enjoy the healing locations, foods, creating things, and sports in a place designated for such activities with smiles on their faces. (P24-P25)Community x creatorsThe history, culture, and nature of Yame have been cherished by people for many years. They have been protected by the strong relationships specific to the region and the deep connections between people. People in Yame know the importance of bequeathing the traditions to the next generation and inheriting from the ancestors. Now, their spirit is used for the local community and cooperation and mechanism are developed. Yame suffered tremendous damage by the torrential rains in northern Kyushu in July 2012. At the time, we reaffirmed the importance of communication between areas and people. We work to establish a community where people are secure, safe, and connected through consideration for each other. (P26-P27)Regeneration x creatorsMake our place a “park in the town.” Based on this idea, the citizens are about to change the old Yame county hall. The hall had been a county hall from 1887 to 1913; thereafter, it was used as a Japanese wax factory and then collective housing in the postwar period. The hall has been abandoned since 1996. Now an NPO and many citizens work together to renovate the property. They are conducting the renovation while respecting the remnants of the old county hall and Japanese wax factory. They protect the traditions and create a 3new place for citizens through the restoration and use of the hall through the collaboration of the local government and citizens, as well as a symbol of the regeneration of Yame Fukushima.
